Just a love story

This is my second post on this Virgo and Sagittarius compatibility. I fell in love with this love story. It’s a real-life fairytale, a true rags-to-riches story and it lasted more than 50 years. And if you don’t believe in love or astrology or anything out of this material world we live in …just keep reading as you will be amazed.

The woman of the story is a Virgo, born on the 20^th of September 1934. Sophia Loren made history in 1961 as the first performer to win an Academy Award for a foreign-language role with “Two Women”. Born in Rome, raised in Pozzuoli, a small town of fishermen outside of Naples, Sophia experienced some of the worst privations of the Second World War—terror and starvation. But miracles do happen and that is when Sophia met the man of the story. Carlo Ponti, one of the greatest film producers of all time from Italy, born on the 11^th of December 1912 and he not only discovered Sophia Loren at the age of 15, but fell in love with her along with the world. She was 15 and he was 37 years old. It was love at first sight. He changed her name and prepared her for the stardom. “I knew immediately she was someone remarkable. Something played off her that gave her a kind of illumination.”—Carlo Ponti There was a small problem: he was married. To the Virgo woman, being the “other one” was unacceptable especially after the very strict upbringing she had as a child.

They were madly in love with one another and despite that there were critics who would say the marriage would never last, they tied the knot 7 years later. After just a month, Carlo Ponti was charged with bigamy as the Catholic Church would not recognize Carlo’s divorce. It took horrible years of courtroom power struggle before he was cleared of the charge. After reaching an extraordinary agreement, Carlo Ponti and Sophia Loren moved to France because here they were allowed to remarry. And that was the clearance for the second wedding of the couple. Their love was as strong as ever, and while marriage to some may simple be ‘a piece of paper’ — to the Virgo woman, it meant the world.

Despite the 22- year age gap between the Sagittarius and his beautiful Virgo wife, their union stood the test of time. The couple had 2 children together. The Italian producer died at 94. They remained together for more than 50 years.

I have to end this post with a word from mr Sagittarius here – Carlo Ponti spent all his life loving Sophia Loren and on his 90th birthday he said “I have done everything for love of Sophia. I have always believed in her.”
