As we go in October 2013, we are heading straight to the climax of this year – there are 2 eclipses on the way and Uranus square Pluto is also building up again. This post is dedicated to the Uranus square Pluto energy. There are 7 exact Uranus Pluto squares between June 2012 and 2015. The last series of squares was between 1932 and 1934.Back then, the world lived the Great Depression, the political and social upheaval.

Why and how is this important?

This is a time that reveals transformation and defines a new era. It is a time to change focus and define a new strategy. There are unpredictable forces at work here. Uranus square Pluto is the most significant and most challenging planetary influence of our generation.  

What is a square?

A square is an angle of 90° (1/2 of an opposition [180°]). In Astrology, this is usually considered a very stressful aspect. It creates tension between planets and points. But tension is necessary to stimulate action and movement. This is an aspect that creates a lot of obstacles before it is smooth and right. However, a square forces everybody to find alternative solutions to problems, fight and learn lessons.

What is Pluto’s energy?

Pluto represents destruction, transformation and renewal. It is associated with death and resurrection, sexuality and creation. It is the Phoenix bird of astrology.  In Greek mythology, a phoenix is a long-lived bird that is cyclically regenerated or reborn. Associated with the sun, a phoenix obtains new life by arising from the ashes of its predecessor. Pluto’s effect is grinding, ruthless, and extreme. Pluto is elimination, clearing out, and if the world seems covered in shadow, it is only to be revealed. Pluto transforms, nothing is ever the same after him.

Pluto is now in Capricorn, the sign of value, agendas, how we share, renew or exploit others. Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008. The first year that Pluto was in Capricorn the world experienced the financial collapse. At that time, financial institutions were collapsing in domino style, and there were a lot of unworthy explanations about what really happened.

Pluto’s game is through power struggle for who owns the Earth. Capricorn defines family, government, tradition and with Pluto here these things are going to change fundamentally. Pluto will be in Capricorn till 2024 and he will affect: Capricorn most powerfully, Cancer, Aries and Libra. In 2024, the family and the government will be totally different from what we know today.

What is Uranus’ energy?

Uranus is change, invention, revolution. It’s effect is unpredictable and shocking. Uranus rules invention and technology. The Planet Uranus changes signs every 7 years and brings with it change, unexpected events, and sometimes complete upheaval. In 2011, Uranus was entering Aries. The global effect of that, say some astrologers, was a tsunami and earthquake in Japan that caused the Fukushima mess and also the protests that spread through the Middle East.

Uranus square Pluto?

There are 7 exact Uranus Pluto squares between June 2012 and 2015. The next one is on Nov. 1 2013 and it is the forth of the seven exact squares. It is the midpoint of the cycle. The last will be on March 16, 2015. The events resemble the force of change. It will be like a hammer hitting to a rusted bolt. It will not move and it will not change. It will just hit and hit. The hammering must knock the rust off. That is the target. A transition to change is necessary. We will most likely face challenges as in 1930′s. If we want to maintain growth and prosperity, we need to change direction. The effect: extremism rising, nationalism rising and protests all over the world.

What about us?

This is a time to reinvent ourselves, to search and understand and see what we are made of, what is possible for us and what is not. We need to change to be able to pass through this revolutionary time.
